The Hendry County Supervisor of Elections staff verifies thousands of initiative petitions each year. The petitions, signed by Hendry County voters, are submitted to our office by various organizations and committees seeking the required number of valid signatures in order to be placed on a General Election ballot. Voter signatures on the petitions are compared to the voter’s signature on the voter registration file.
Pursuant to Florida Statute 100.371(11)(b), Hendry County’s actual cost of signature verification of an initiative petition is $3.36, effective September 29, 2025.
Visit the Division of Elections – Florida Department of State website for a list of current initiative petitions as well as the Florida initiative petition process, forms, procedures, rules, etc.
As required by 100.371(5), Florida Statutes, each proposed constitutional amendment that is placed on the ballot by the citizen initiative process is required to have included an initiative financial information statement.
The Supervisor of Elections is required to provide this information on the supervisor’s website, and list, as well, the web sites for the Secretary of State and the Office of Economic and Demographic Research.
